Glyconutrients is the name Mannatech uses for the blends of plant saccharides in its products. A saccharide is a carbohydrate built from sugar units, and here the word means complex carbohydrates taken from plants such as aloe vera and the larch tree, not table sugar. In South Africa you find glyconutrients in the Ambrotose range, NutriVerus, MannaBears and GlycoCafé, all ordered through the official Mannatech South Africa shop.
What glyconutrients are
The word joins two parts. “Glyco” comes from the Greek word for sweet and is used in science for anything to do with sugars and carbohydrates. “Nutrients” are the things we get from food. Put together, glyconutrients means carbohydrate nutrients from plants.
It is a product term rather than a nutrient group you will see on a standard food label, the way you see protein or fibre. You may also come across it written as glyconutrient (one), glyco nutrients (two words) or glyconutritionals. They all point to the same idea: Mannatech’s plant carbohydrate blends.
Where they come from
The carbohydrates in these blends come from everyday plants and plant gums. The main ones in the Mannatech range are:
- Aloe vera. The clear gel inside the aloe leaf, dried into a powder. Mannatech sells its aloe gel powder on its own as Manapol.
- Arabinogalactan. A plant fibre taken from the wood of larch trees.
- Plant gums. Natural gums such as tragacanth, the dried sap of a shrub, which are also used widely in food.
- Wakame. A brown seaweed, used in Advanced Ambrotose.
Each product uses its own mix, and recipes change over time. The label and each product page list what is in it. Our ingredients A to Z links every ingredient to its research page.

Always follow the serving size and directions on the pack. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medicine or under a doctor’s care, speak to your doctor first.
Where to read the research
Mannatech publishes its own science website, mannatechscience.org, with a page for each product and ingredient. It is written by Mannatech in the United States, so some wording follows American rules. Our Mannatech science page lists every product and ingredient from A to Z, with links to that research and to the matching product here.
Glyconutrients FAQ
What are glyconutrients?
Glyconutrients is Mannatech’s name for blends of plant carbohydrates, called saccharides, taken from sources such as aloe vera, larch tree fibre and plant gums. You find them in the Ambrotose range and a few other Mannatech products.
Are glyconutrients the same as sugar?
No. They belong to the same chemical family as sugars, the carbohydrates, but they are not table sugar. The word refers to longer, more complex carbohydrates from plants. Each product label shows its full nutrition information.
Which Mannatech products contain glyconutrients?
In South Africa: Advanced Ambrotose (powder and capsules), Ambrotose Complex (capsules and powder), Ambrotose AO, NutriVerus, MannaBears and GlycoCafé. Many value bundles include one of these.
What is Ambrotose?
Ambrotose is Mannatech’s best-known range and its main glyconutrient product. The two core formulas are Advanced Ambrotose, made with Manapol aloe vera, wakame seaweed, vitamin A and larch arabinogalactan, and Ambrotose Complex, the original formula made with aloe. See Ambrotose prices in South Africa.
Is MannaBears a glyconutrient product?
Yes. MannaBears are fruity pectin gummies made with Manapol aloe and dried fruit and vegetables, and the label says “with glyconutrients”. They are a popular choice for children and for adults who prefer not to swallow capsules.
